About Patrick
Patrick Marum studies Music Education and Trumpet Performance at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and will be graduating in May of 2020. In his time there, he has been a part of many different ensembles, including small and large classical groups and jazz ensembles. Patrick takes pride in his varied skill set and experiences, both as a performer and leader.

As a Performer
As a performer, Patrick has participated in numerous groups. At the University of Massachusetts Amherst, he has been a part of the Wind Ensemble, Symphony Band, Concert Band, Chapel Jazz Ensemble, Trumpet Ensemble, and multiple brass quintets. Under the direction of his trumpet professor Eric Berlin, Patrick's Trumpet Ensemble reached the quarterfinals of the 2018 National Trumpet Competition in Denton, Texas. In addition to Texas, Patrick has traveled with some of these groups across the country and internationally, including California, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and Ireland. Patrick has also played with the MIT Concert Band on their 2019 tour to Prince Edward Island, Canada.

As an Educator
As an educator, Patrick has had the fortunate opportunity to serve on the leadership team for the University of Massachusetts Minuteman Marching Band. In his Junior year, he served as a Field Staff member for the trumpet section, and the following two years as Drum Major. Through these roles, he has helped teach marching and musical techniques, run sectionals, and plan and execute many logistical events for the 400 person ensemble. Patrick has also been in leadership roles in music service organizations, including Treasurer and Recording Secretary.
